FILE PREPARATION
  1. All fonts must be converted to curves / paths or printer and screen fonts to be supplied on disc with file.
  2. Make sure that your scanned images are saved as a single file and supplied as separate files together with vector documents (do not imbed thefiles).
  3. We recommend that images be scanned at 300 dpi, using scanners with CMYK capabilities.
  4. Files scanned in the RGB format will be printed to the CMYK equivalent and colours can vary significantly from the screen colours.
  5. Bitmap images, as a rule, should be no less than 1/5th of the final printed size.
  6. Files must be saved in a multi channel single file EPS or single file Tiff.
  7. Files supplied in five-file EPS format will be converted and the time will be charged at the standard rate.
SCANNING INSTRUCTIONS
To determine scanning size, you first need to select final output resolution. As a rule of thumb, any file smaller than 3 sqm will be ripped at 185 dpi while all files larger will be ripped at 23 dpi. 185 Dpi files require scanned image to be no smaller than 33% of its final output size when scanned at 300 dpi. 23 Dpi files require scanned image to be no smaller than 12.5% of its final output size when scanned at 300 dpi.
EXAMPLES OF CALCULATIONS
23 dpi
600cm ÷ 12.5 = 48cm
Final image size ÷ 12.5 = scan size at 300dpi
185dpi
300cm ÷ 3.3 = 90cm
Final image size ÷ 3.3 = scan size at 300dpi
COLOUR
While every effort will be made to match colours, the play out uses Generic CMYK inks that may cause variations in the final colour. Each set of CMYK colours has different colour values, this causes colour variation on the final printout. The size and shape of the dot, as well as the type and frequency of the screen also plays a role in the final colour.
Exact colour matching is therefore very difficult to attain and in some instances is impossible, as the gamut for each CMYK set is restricted.
Colour proofs or samples must be supplied for colour matching purposes. These will be matched as closely as possible. Spot colours that are out of the CMYK gamut will be matched with the closest possible CMYK equivalent if colour proofs are supplied. If no colour matching is provided the artwork will be printed as supplied and will be deemed correct and acceptable. Digigraphix can in no way be held responsible for the final colours printed.
All colour matching will be charged at the standard rate.
PLAY OUT
While Digigraphix will make every effort to check the work before final play out, work supplied by the customer is deemed to be correct and ready for play out. Digigraphix cannot be held responsible for any mistakes, errors or omissions in the final play out.
Any alterations and or preparation of the files for play out will be charged at the standard rate.
